Purpose of Privacy Policy

Farfaras Dental Clinic which is run by Dr.Prodromos Farfaras and Dr. Savvas Farfaras (hereinafter ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’ or the ‘Clinic’) takes privacy matters seriously and aims at handling your personal data in a lawful and transparent manner. The purpose of this document is to provide you with information relating to the handling of your personal data by us.

References to ‘processing’ include any relevant processing such as the collection, process, use and storage of personal data.

Data collected by us

We may collect and process the following personal data:

Personal identification information (such as full name, date of birth, e-mail and/or physical address, phone number etc);

Medical and/or health information (such as allergies, pregnancy, diseases, therapies etc).

Medical history of any serious illnesses you may have suffered in the past from;

Any other information collected in the exercise of your dental care, diagnosis and/or treatment (e.g. teeth and gum issues, panoramic x-raysetc);

CCTV footage from the waiting room and the outside premises of the Clinic; and

General user traffic (usage) of our website and internet protocol (IP)address.

How we collect your data

You directly provide our Clinic with most of yourpersonal data. We may collect and process your personal data when you:

Visit and/or register with our Clinic in person;

Use our website and/or complete the online Contact Form;

Call us and/or send us an e-mail and/or mail;

Contact us through social media;

Receive dental care, diagnosis and/or treatment;

We may also collect personal data through the use of CCTV at our premises.

Purposes and legal basis for the processing

We process your personal data for the purposes of effective dental care (including sending you reminder messages for your appointments) and safety, based on the lawful basis of legitimate interests pursued by us. The legitimate interests are as follows:

providing safe and effective dental care, diagnosis and/or treatment;

ensuring the safety of our employees and patients as well as the safety of our premises through the use of CCTV;


ensuring that you are able to communicate with and navigate our website.

Categories of Recipients

The Clinic may provide some of your personal information to third parties only to the extent that it is strictly necessary and secure to do so. More specifically, we mayprovide some of your data to our technicians (e.g. ‘patient ID’ reference), orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons.Your personal data is also processed by our employees in the exercise of their relevant duties.

Your Rights

In relation to your personal data, you have the rights mentioned below. We will do our best to satisfy your requestwithout undue delay and in any event within one (1) month of receipt of the relevant request. If the request is complex or we have numerous requests at the same time, we may extend this period by two (2) further months where necessary and inform you accordingly within one (1) month of receipt of the request.

Right of access

You have the right to request access to your personal data and other relevant information (e.g. a copy of your personal data which is being processed by us). For any further copies requested, we may charge a reasonable fee based on administrative costs.

Right to rectification

You have the right to request correction of the personal data we hold about you (e.g. where such data is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date).

Right to erasure

You have the right to request erasure of the personal data we hold about you but under certain conditions (e.g. we may still have legitimate reasons to continue to process your personal data under applicable data protection legislation). In the event that you make such a request and there is a compelling legitimate ground to refuse to act upon it, we will inform you accordingly of the reasons for not taking action.

Right to object

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation. In this case we will no longer process your personal data unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which, e.g., override your interests, rights and freedoms.

Right to restrict processing

You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data if one of the following applies:

you have challenged the accuracy of your personal data and requested us to correct it, so you wish to restrict the processing of your personal data whilst we examine your rectification request;


you have exercised your right to object and wish to restrict the processing of your personal data whilst we examine your objection request;


the processing of your personal data was unlawful but you wish to restrict further processing rather than erase your personal data;


your personal data is not needed by us anymore and you want us to keep it for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you are not satisfied with the way we handle your personal data or feel that we have not addressed your requests mentioned above in a satisfactory manner, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (the ‘Commissioner’). More information can be found on the Commissioner’s website(www.dataprotection.gov.cy).

Retention Period

We will keep your personal data for as long as there is an ongoing relationship between you and us. Furthermore, we may keep your personal data for a period of up to fifteen (15) years after death or fifteen (15) years after the date of last entry of your personal data in our filing systems.

This retention period is in accordance with the relevant Directive issued by the Commissioner on 03 July 2018.

CCTV footage is retained only for seven (7) daysand is afterwards deleted. The images may be retained for a longer period only where required for evidential purposes, the investigation of an offence (e.g. theft, property damage etc), or as may be otherwise required by law.

Importance of obtaining your personal data

It is important for us to obtain your personal data, especially the data which you are requested to fill in on the ‘Patient Registration Form’ and any other data we process in the exercise of your dental care, diagnosis and/or treatment. This will allow us to properly exercise our duty of care towards you and will ensure your health and safety. If you refuse to provide such information or if the information you provide is inaccurate, this could be dangerous to your health and safety.


Cookies are small text files which are placed on your device when visiting our website.

Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to be operational and function properly.

Non-necessary cookies are used toanalyse website traffic and/or enhance marketing.

Our website uses third-party vendors’ tools (i.e. Google Analytics and Yandex) which collect information in the aggregate (including theIP address of the user which is anonymised) to give us insight into how our website is being used (e.g. number of page views, how visitors have arrived at our website etc) and/or to help us personaliseonline ads.
